Why We Exist

Our Mission

A Patch of Hope is a youth-led, official 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that all families and individuals have access to the medical treatment and education they need — regardless of their financial circumstances.

We're led by local Amador Valley students who are genuinely passionate about making a difference in the lives of people who can't afford essential medical supplies and treatment. Being able to stay healthy is a blessing most of us take for granted — yet so many in our community quietly struggle with it. No one deserves to have healthcare be a burden in their life.

What We Do

Turning hope into action

We raise awareness about the lack of basic healthcare in our community — and then we do something about it.

We educate

We create educational social media posts that teach our community about healthcare access and life-saving basics.

We fundraise

We raise funds and gather basic healthcare necessities through donations, our shop, and community events.

We supply

We purchase hygiene products and medical supplies and donate them where they're needed most.

We volunteer

We offer volunteer opportunities so students can give back, build skills, and earn service hours.

The Issue

Why this matters

So many people believe they'll never have to face an emergency where they feel helpless to help someone in need. But the reality is closer than we think.

  • The National Safety Council estimates a preventable, injury-related death occurs roughly every three minutes in the U.S. — about 23 every hour.
  • Outcomes often depend on a bystander stepping in — to stop severe bleeding, clear an airway, or start CPR.
  • Knowledge and basic supplies save lives. That's why we share both.

We're a lean, volunteer-powered team — so the funds we raise turn directly into supplies and support for people in our community.

Hygiene for homeless shelters

We buy basic hygiene products — soap, toothbrushes, sanitary items, and more — and donate them to underfunded homeless shelters across the Bay Area.

Medical supplies for the Berkeley Free Clinic

We purchase basic medical supplies and donate them to the Berkeley Free Clinic, helping them care for people who can't afford treatment.
